Politicization in Mental Health Care: Outlining the Problem and Showing Ways Forward
This 1.5-hour on demand, non-interactive distance learning course will explore the way politicized approaches impact education, training, and practice and discuss issues in the field that have arisen as a result of this politicized training as well as some ways to respond. Political activism has become prominent in mental health care (education, research and clinical practice). While arguments favoring activism can be made in limited circumstances, there are significant reasons to be concerned about its hazards. Concerns include the undermining of professional values like trust, openness, neutrality, and autonomy.
